You can buy one for $3 off ebay. The actuator itself is just a ford part # unit. I just replaced mine not knowing what was wrong so I bought the whole assembly off ebay used for $35 (shipped from England).

In the UK, have you tried David Manners or British Parts UK.

Or a quick UK Google for Jaguar spares will give you a decent list of breakers.

I bought one when I did mine but had a used set up as well. Went with the used set up. It does look identical though.

I had to loosen everything in the xj rear to get the actuator to a spot where I could remove it. Going with a aftermarket likely means you'll need to solder it in so you should just be able to remove the actuator and the harness, solder then put back in. It isn't the easiest job to do as access in any door pretty much blows.

Default Actuator going down then immediately up

OK Guys, I guess this is my weekend for somewhat stupid questions....My front passenger door actuator goes down when locked, but then immediately raises up while the other doors remain locked. Is this going to be an actuator problem, or an electrical signal from somewhere else raising this one actuator back up. Also, upon looking at a spare left handed door I have, it would appear that if I replace just the actuator, that I will need to splice into existing harness as it has two leads on it from one plug. Is this so, or am I confused? Thanks in advance for your patience.
Duh...just re-read benebob's response which answers the splicing question.
