Default Draining XJR Fuel Tank

Before I dive in blind, is there an easy way to drain the fuel tank? Want to get rid of some old gas since my XJR was in storage for a couple of years.

You can drain it by attaching a hose to the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. You can also use the
fuel supply line at a convenient disconnect point (the inlet to the fuel rail or fuel filter) Then you
can extend a hose there to your catchment. Then just
remove the fuel pump relay and install
a jumper wire or paper clip across terminals 3 and 5 in the fuel pump relay socket. Then you
turn the key to Position II (ON/RUN) (don't crank the engine At this point the fuel pump will
pump the fuel out of the tank a
nd into your catch container. Some forum members have used
this method with success.

Jumping the fuel pump relay connections should work regardless of key position. For extra flow, jumper your secondary fuel pump as well, with the added bonus it will exercise that pump a bit.

If you need to remove the tank for whatever reason, DO NOT just pull the tank towards the rear of the car without disconnecting the fuel lines from underneath the car first!

I tried that tonight I said I wonder if it works and I have 3/4 of a tank of fuel that I wanna put into something else before this Xj8 goes into the boneyard. I disconnected it from the fuel rail and then I put a hose on the end of it and the best I could do with a piece of couple pieces of duct tape it was a clear hose anyway you had to crank the motor but it would keep pumping a hell of a screen and it took about a minute before it got through all that duck tape and started making a mess but I can hear that there’s more than one way to skin a cat I’m just gonna get the old piece of tubing that that will go back into one of those quick connect fittings and just put a hose clamp on a clear hose. I’m gonna keep it hanging on the wall as fast as it discharges all This fuel it’s a great idea coming to a neighborhood near you!

I tried this this morning it worked perfect I made up a nipple off of an old fuel rail then I can stick it in the fuel hose after it is disconnected from the fuel rail jump the fuse relay turn the key on and just sit and watch it fill these gas cans !. I’ll keep this apparatus nearby ...But someone needs to come up with an idea how to get fuel out of these tanks when the fuel pump is bad?
