Default Finally found my 03 XJR- now need collective wisdom!

My previously owned 03 XJR has found a new home in Illinois. I could use some collective wisdom to investigate a few of it's "unique" features:
1- I find I am suddenly in need of a CD cassette for the original trunk-mounted multidisk player- any one have one available?
2- Driver's door side mirror juggles- not the housing- just the mirror- motor does move it...
3- Front passenger door won't open from the inside.
4- Any good sources for another ignition key? with or without the fob- only need a back-up for the existing key and fob.
5- Antenna has an erection issue. It doesn't. Tried a little blue pill- I am fine but mast unresponsive
6- There is likely a ground issue in the right turn indicator in the front bumper- shorts out at rest but at speed woks just fine. If I push it at rest it will blink. Thoughts?
7- Steering pedestal won't telescope- does tilt up and down and I can hear the motor when I try to telescope but no movement.
8- The fitting under the windscreen that attaches to the washer tube feeding the wiper is broken..any sources for a spare?

thanks for the help and support resulting in my new (to me) 03 XJR!

1. I'd modernize with a thumb drive and SIRIUS radio
2. Sounds like the drive post is toast...ebay a lookin' ye be
3. Sounds like the cable lanyard has come off the handle, time to pull a panel
4. There are lots of place that offer keys online, the fob is another story and may be expensive?
5. You need a sexier partner, that's your problem..lol..does your erection...errr...motor make any noise when you give it the blue pill....errr...turn it on?
6. What happens if you pull it out of the socket, do the others still work?
7. Ummm, I'll pass on this one Bill, I see a column coming apart.. can I have Q 8 please?
8. Are you talking of the pass through on the windage tray? Ebay, usually only $10ish.

For anything you have, be sure to open it up yourself, the fix could be very simple or you may find you do have to go the replacement route.

What are the chances that, after taking the door card off, the lanyard will be broken? Or does it, indeed, "just come off"??

Well, since I'm pretty sure these vehicles aren't self fixing and I'd say the chances of seeing through the panel are minimal, you won't know until it comes off.
As far as it coming off, *you have to remove the handle bezel, you may see your issue right there, but if not...
*Remove the screw from under the panel arm rest...
*This is optional...carefully remove the wood panel starting from the latching side, so as not to crack the finish, a flat type putty knife will help, work it up easily, the panel is held in with press in blades, 3 if I recall correctly...
*Then from the panel bottom, there are press in plastic pins attached to the panel, pull out on the panel, working along the bottom until free and lift up and remove the panel.
*Be careful, your speaker wire and armrest control harness is there, but will allow you enough length to set it down to do your work. Then you'll have a plastic sheet you can peel up to get to whichever area you need to, don't cut it.
You'll also see in the bottom middle of the panel, a silver control box. That is for your door controls in case you ever have to reset it. Also be careful with your hands in the door, you can inadvertently trigger the window down and find yourself testing your reflexes....not that I have any experience with that to be able to warn you of it...
So here is also a link, ...this guy describes what I do above, only with visual. But there is one part at about the 2:00 mark, you'll see your cable. If you don't have the whole assembly set properly, your handle will not work all the time...or it may be broken? So you may only need to go that far to find your issue. I didn't watch the whole video, the first couple minutes describes your initial needs.

Each of these problems has many threads describing the fixes. Trouble with old cars lots of things begin to break over time and your Previous Owner apparently didn't keep up or he gave up. I had all of your problems -- some inherited, some occurred on my watch -- most easy to fix (except the telescoping steering wheel - a real PITA) with this forum and Google.

1- I find I am suddenly in need of a CD cassette for the original trunk-mounted multidisk player- any one have one available?

Ebay

2- Driver's door side mirror juggles- not the housing- just the mirror- motor does move it...

The pot metal frame that holds the mirror inside the housing is cracked, common when re-installing the mirror itself, buy an entire parts mirror on 'bay and replace the cracked part inside.

3- Front passenger door won't open from the inside.

Cable is snapped, search for repair instructions here.

4- Any good sources for another ignition key? with or without the fob- only need a back-up for the existing key and fob.

Ebay for both, must be programed (dealer?) chip inside key.

5- Antenna has an erection issue. It doesn't. Tried a little blue pill- I am fine but mast unresponsive

Replacement mast is cheap and easy to install, Ebay and instructions here.

6- There is likely a ground issue in the right turn indicator in the front bumper- shorts out at rest but at speed woks just fine. If I push it at rest it will blink. Thoughts?

Corrosion in connection(s) or ground, disassemble and clean everything.

7- Steering pedestal won't telescope- does tilt up and down and I can hear the motor when I try to telescope but no movement.

Common, repair instructions here. Once you get it fixed, turn it off, it will break again if you leave it on auto tilt and telescope.

8- The fitting under the windscreen that attaches to the washer tube feeding the wiper is broken..any sources for a spare?

NAPA.

Apply firm pressure to the inner end of the lamp.
Use a small screwdriver at the outer end of the lamp to release the clip.

Check out Robert DIY on youtube. He has several videos working on an XJ8, including one centered around the inner rear door handles, as well as one about Antenna's, and walks you through how to clean/program the Fobs.
