Fuel Smell in trunk and inside cabin
2001 xj8
I statred to smell fuel while driving about two weeks ago. The smell is more concentrated in the back seat and trunk. I just had the pass smog in CA nad had to replace the gas cap. There are several postings about purege valves and vapor canisters for the XK models...What about the XJ and where is it located? Any help would be appreciated.

I just purchased a 2002 Vanden Plas and have the same problem. It just started. My engine light came on and said check gas cap. I purchased a new one problem with the smell is still present. It seems to happen after it warms up a little. Sorry I cant help, if I figure it out I'll let you know.
I have the same issue. I have replaced the valve attached to the charcoal canister under the passenger's side of the car. I was having a problem filling the car with gas and had the gas smell in the trunk and interior of the car, so I detached the breather hose going from the fuel neck to the canister. Doing so allowed me to fill the car with fuel. I assumed the valve was the problem and replaced it. I still have the gas smell, though. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
