Going to purchase a 99 X308 VDP Security LED missing on
Ok among some of the issues on the X308 I'm planning on buying next week, I'm curious about the Security LED, thats missing. Unfortunately the car was given to the current owner, so they know nothing. The key fob doesn't work and the security light is gone. So my question is do I start down potential rabbit hole or leave it as is. Sure I'd live it work but not at the expense of getting locked out of my soon to be new car! Security bulb missing
Mostly cosmetic normal stuff, headliner sag in back, cup holder, other than that it's in great condition, especially for the mileage of 195k, asking price was negotiated down to 3200.
Only one fob, one key, that kinda sucks theres a few things that would make this car perfect, but to me the condition with the mileage say garage kept and well maintained.
I can respect that certainly, I've researched pretty much non stop for last 3 months and I trust this risk a little more than the others mainly because although this owner doesnt know anything about the car, I've tracked down the original dealership it came from and well I feel like all the problems found with this vehicle make it very difficult to survive past 175k without the problems being rectified. I.e. tensioners, water pump, throttle body...I could be wrong and could have found the only XJ with 195k original miles and no major repair, in which case, I'm screwed

Yes, it is always a little bit of a roll of the dice when purchasing a car of this age, often appearances can be deceiving, and so can mileages sometimes! Although I do think it best to buy the lowest mileage possible that you can afford as lower mileage examples of these marques can be found for relatively low purchase prices.
I do wish you luck and there is always plenty of advice and help here on the forum with whatever you decide to do.
Ughhhh, well, guess I better do some more research I thought that was were the bold went!! Sorry this will be my first time, and well...yeah...thank you so much that's actually good news
