Default Happy New Year…and new problems with Lord Donnington

So I just replaced my fuel pump, sending unit and an evap hose the size of a chewed pencil ($150 hose) and got my Jag Lord Donnington back on the road and then this just started to happen: the airbag light comes on about ten minutes after starting the car. When I restart the car the light is off but comes back on ten minutes later. I will start by looking under the driver seat to check the yellow connector but other than that am I looking at the clock mechanism at the steering wheel?

I also have a weird new thing where when I shut off the car the doors stay locked and I have to use the key fob or dash switch to unlock the doors…

It may be a new year but it’s old problems with Lord Donnington (who only traveled 900 miles last year…)

Default Intermittent Air Bag Light

Lord Donnington has a new thing to amuse me: sometimes I get the airbag light coming on. Sometimes I don’t. And sometimes it rains…

No rhyme or reason to the light popping on. If the clock switch in the steering wheel was the culprit wouldn’t the air bag light always be on? I suspect wiring under the seat may be a possible area to look… or something like the Jag becoming possessed by demons.

Anyone have any ideas?

On a trend lately the certain " safing " resistor in the SRS module seams to crop up

This special type of resistor of a certain size can be replaced by yourself and is on E - bay and others otherwise it is a Ford manufactured module so should be common and not expensive

Brandan in the X300 world made this excellent Doc and how you can test system with an important precaution of yourself adding test resistors least you blow bags

Doc Below

Mine too is intermittent: restarting always has reset it -- for three years. Happens mostly in damp and/or cold weather. Guessing: corrosion and moisture on the terminals -- maybe dirty clock spring. Spray some WD40 or CRC into the clock spring.

For me: I live with it; it's an old car

Default Now my new headlight bulb wont stay put…

Lord Donnington is being fussy. My headlight bulb holder won’t secure to the plastic retainer in the back of the headlight - it just falls back into the engine bay where it gets jostled until it has had enough and shatters my $28 bulb. Why won't it insert and grasp the sides of the plastic bulb mount? I pushed it on pretty hard and it feels like it might stay but I didn’t hear it click into place.

Go on EBay and find a used one: be careful, low beam (outer) and high beam (inner) lamps are different. These will be from a junk yard breaker: the old lamp pushes out -- it is easy, but some force, it is old. The new/replacement should be able to hold the new bulb and work once you clean the plugs and fittings.

I got mine from Dave: shop.everydayXJ.com

The X300 and X308 lamp lenses are different so ensure X308

X308 are shinier silvering and have 3 pall post holding in vs. 4 if I recall

Remove your original by spraying a few days in advance the palls least the ***** can break off and then bad
