Default Head and cam assembly

My Jag family, it's been awhile since my last post - inquiry (2000 xj8)it was determined coolant was getting into the combustion chamber . Reason being white smoke from the tailpipe and rapid coolant loss after purchasing crankshaft damper removal tool and engine timing tool remainder of the assembly was straightforward . The head is back from the shop I have new chain ,guides gasket and seals and is ready to put it back together I need all the guidance and advice from my forun family out there on cylinder to cam and valvetrain timing. Thanks for all guidance and advice .

You obviously took the head off right....so, it's reversal of the removal procedure.
You have the correct timing locking tools right??
Just the normal routine checks as you re install the head ;o)

The link below will give you procedures, tightening sequence, and torques.
When you install the chains and time them properly it will time cylinders and valve train.
After you get the chains timed turn the engine manually a couple of times then reinstall the crankshaft locking tool and re check that the cams are timed correctly. It is best in my opinion to double check before you put the timing cover back on. When the chains are on only turn the engine in a clockwise direction.

I have both the Jaguar Engine course 180 and 168. I copied my training manual 168 to .pdf from a paper 3 ring binder because the 168 has BOTH V8 and V6. Gus has a copy on his site.

BobRoy linked to it on the site.

Sorry about the scribbles on some of the pages.
