How Do You Open/Remove the Heel Board Fuse Box Covers
I feel like such an idiot for having to ask this but I have searched everywhere (including my service manual) and can't figure out how to do this.
I want to check the fuses in the two fuse boxes under the back seat of my 2002 XJ8 Venden Plas. I see a small "button" in the center of each with no groove or edge. It's dome shaped and the same color of the upholstery so I assume it's original but can't promise that. The service manual says you turn this 1/4 turn (I assume counter-clockwise) and I've gotten underneath it with a pair of needle nose pliers; but turning has no effect. I've also tried prying it almost to the point of breaking the cover (which is what I'm trying to avoid). What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

OK, this has been discussed before, it seems that over time, some workshops or owners think that it is a good idea to use fir tree trim clips in stead of the original ones.
Originally, the panels are simply held by slotted clips, and should turn 90 degrees with the help of a screwdriver or coin.
In your case, if pulling the panel does not work, I should probably try to cut the head off, then hope the panel is not glued in place.
After removing, you should be able to clean up the mess and install it in a more OEM way.
