I couldn't find this info in the posts or parts catalogs. How many of the plastic door panel clips are there on each door front and rear?
Just about every door panel is either missing some clips or they're worn and not holding properly. Before I start taking panels off and making them worse than before I touched them, I'd like to order a bunch of them. Both the clip that goes on the panel and the bushing that goes in the door. Ideally enough to replace all if needed since the clips don't seem to be expensive but shipping is.
The best place to order those is one of the cheap online sellers - I am thinking of aliexpress or similar.
First you need to know, what your clips look like exactly to be able to find them there.
You buy a bag full. If you buy a bag of 50, it might suffice, if you buy 100, you definitely will have enough.
If you find some that are a perfect fit, post back and let us know . Or if you buy a bag of 100, lets maybe share the cost as I (and probably more of us) need some too. I've been wanting to take my door panels to the upholstery shop that did the headliner some years back and get the map pockets re-lined. The fabric material is disintegrating. Last time I had the door panels off to replace all the speakers I noticed a couple missing and some not holding fast. Probably do that later this Summer or in the Fall.
I can't take my own X308 apart now, just to have a look, what clips are being used for the door panel exactly, but I did the next best thing:
I found a youtube video about that:
And the clips, which I do see there look quite similar to those, which I just looked up:
Thus, if you have one of your clips in the hand, you can compare the dimensions, and if they are correct, you know, where to find them.
Other than that, a German saying is:
"Wer suchet, der findet!" - Translation: The one, who keeps searching, will find, what he is looking for...
The one, who keeps searching, will find, what he is looking for...
This is very true. My experience with the new to me Jag has been a little bit of a rough start when it comes to searching for parts. I found according to jag parts diagrams just about everywhere the correct part for my grille which ended up being completely wrong. I've been burned and holding $90 parts I have no use for even after asking the parts department to confirm. So, I rather look a bit foolish and ask the experts, and the people who have actually done it, rather than assume a parts diagram is correct. The Jag diagrams aren't the best in my opinion. The better ones will tell you the quantity of the part required, thus answering my question of number of clips.
Thanks Peter for the video and image of the clip. That's very helpful.
Fant that link said the item is not available in my area and I couldn't even see it. Probably a California thing. Thanks anyway.
Oh, weird! I'm in the Netherlands. Probably has something to do with seller not wanting to ship to the US due a certain orange man's tariffs. Anyway they're Land Rover P38 clips, they should be on amazon and such as well. From looks they're exactly the same. I bought a bag but haven't put them in yet so can't confirm 100%.
In case anyone else is wondering the exact number of door panel clips, the rear doors have six push clips each.
I had to take my rear right door panel off to replace the puddle light. Most of them were still intact, but it seems like whoever was working on that door before used the incorrect female friction bush (that sounds weird written out like that). In case you're looking for the female bush, the part number is kzv100010 and that corresponds to the male clip ktd300002.
Can't seem to edit my old post to add this additional info, but I finally had to take my front door panel off and the front one has a total of eight clips.
If you're looking for the clips, I ordered a 30 pack off ebay. I assume they're 3D printed and you can find them all over ebay. They are not the exact OE style, but they work just fine and are a great value compared to OE.
