Default How are the small window frames fitted?

Hi,

My X308 has a frame (rear right) around the small 3rd window which is loose. How are they normally fitted? I can peel it quite far off but not remove it. It looks as if it was only glued via doublesided sticky tape...

Is that right? Where should tape be and how much is needed?

Cheers

Damien

Subscribed, as I will need to remove my left side one, to remove a ding which came with the car when I bought it.
I presume it might be bolted from the inside, under the trim, but not sure.

Looks like nobody knows!?

I'll be popping into my parts suppliers this week... Maybe He can say something. If not I've got an X300 with the same parts... Trial and error...

According to JTIS, the rear quarter light is bonded into the bodyshell the same as the windscreens.

They are removed/ installed complete with the exterior trim fitted, and I do recall a picture of a new quarter light and that came with the trim.

So I would go along with your observation that it is glued in place either with double sided tape or some other bonding agent such as silicone.

I had replaced mine. They are mounted the same as windscreen and those small windows are bloody hard to take off.
My mechanic firstly cut off the trim and just then the glass.

Do you think the trim can be removed without damaging it?

As said, mine has a dent, but is perfectly fitted.
I might damage more by trying to take it apart then repairing the dent.

I've replaced mine because somebody was trying to remove it and damage it so i strongly do not recommend to try them taking off. Only if you want to replace it with completely new one.

Thank you Rostman, that is what I feared.
The dent is too small to replace for a new one right now.

I hope the OP solved his problem as well.

I did in the end. I simply bought some window glue and coated the undersurface. Pressed on and now it is quieter...
