Has anyone been able to use the icarsoft i930 scanner on their 1998 X308?
I was told it was suitable for mine, and it says Jaguar (1994 - 2014) on the box.
However, when I try OBDII diagnose, it comes up with communication error. It's connected, the engine is running, and the car is OBDII compliant.
It does do a plain diagnose, and I could get the ABS error code and clear it. Is it something do with it can communicate with modules on the CAN bus, but not the serial bus (ECU)?
Anyone got any ideas as I don't know whether to attempt to return it for a refund.
TIA Simon
Could anyone possibly explain to me what the difference is between the "Diagnose" (Works) and the "OBDII Diagnose" (Doesn't work) menu options are on the scanner, as the diagnose one seems to offer a lot of modules it can read?
I'm as confused as a baby on a topless beach.
Will the diagnose one do all that the OBDII diagnose will do, so I don't really need it?
I just want it to read any error codes and clear any codes and warning lights that might come on.
I think you can contact the iCarsoft company, maybe make sure they didn't put a Volkswagen model in the jag box, it also might just be faulty. Did you buy it from a reputable source ? I think I have read about counterfeit iCarsofts ????
I bought the same scanner last year when my IDS went kaput.

When you plug it in, navigate to Auto scan, this should work, I did initially go with individual module scan and it faulted.
Auto should get you any stored codes, from there just note them and delete.
Mine seemed to do the opposite: I tried an auto scan on everything. It seemed to be going through stuff, but then went back to the menu that wants you to select individual modules. I scanned ABS and it came up with the error code which I could then delete.
I'm still trying to determine what I'll be missing if it can't communicate with the ECU.
Not sure whether to return it , but I'm being told that none of these tools will work properly on a car my age, 1998, and at least it would be of some use.
It successfully read the ABS fault code and could clear it which is why I bought it, but no-one seems able to tell me what it wouldn't be able to do if it can't communicate with the ECU. I've read it's something to do with being able to read the CAN modules, but not the ECU ones, but whether it would be able to diagnose a check engine light for example, I don't know.
unplug airbag and see if it can scan the error
we did not produce this tool so we will not tell you what it will or not do, for certain it won't program new keys or add HP to your engine you will be lucky if it scans all stuff
dealer level tool may cost loads or less then your scanner, plenty info her on forum
simple as that
