Default Interior hood release lever

So my hood release lever broke and would not allow one side of my hood to pop open. Ordered a new one on ebay and it is oem in original packaging. Part number HNC2561AC. Ebay seller was BritishPartsPlace. $32.05 and that included shipping. The invoice said Terry’s Jaguar Parts and Engel Imports. Shipping was really fast. Took about 30 minutes to install and works perfectly now.

You have to remove the side kick plate in the footwell. It has two clips at the front and one of those plastic push pins toward the back in the middle. There are no screws. Remove the coin tray to the lower left of the steering column. It only has one screw at the top and then just slides out. You can see what you are doing with it removed. There are two 10mm nuts to remove and it just slides off. You will then be able to turn it around and see how the cables connect. The round ***** on the ends of the cables slide into slots. That is where mine broke. I think it was a fatigue crack that got worse over time. It’s easier to get them out if you take a flat screwdriver and pop the cable loose from where it is anchored into bracket. Then the ***** just clide out from the slot in the side.

Make sure you notice which cable goes on which side. You might want to lable them. Putting the new one on is just doing everything in reverse. Be sure to slide the cable ***** in first before clipping the cable back into the lever anchor. Then mount it back onto the bolts and put the nuts back on. It’s almost impossible to contort yourself under there if you try to hook up the cables after you mount the new lever so hook them to the lever first. I took some pictures to kind of give you an idea.

Remove this coin box. One screw at top.

Then you can see what you’re doing.

Remove these two 10mm nuts.

View from underneath so you can see how the cables attach. This is the new one after I installed so you can see it is not broken.

This is the part. Part number HNC2561AC.

This is the old broken one.

You can see where it fatigued over time.

This is where I got the new part. $32.05 including shipping.
