Default J-gate will not shift out of park

I have a 2000 XJ8 VDP and it is stuck in park. The problem started when I wen to to Drive and I forced it so the housing broke were the Interlock solenoid. I went to the wrecking yard and replaced the J-Gate. After I installed the J-Gate the shift solenoid will not engage to shift out of park. It seems the solenoid is not getting power. If I manually release the shifter to reverse and drive the transmission with shift. I replaced the brake light switch assuming that this would solve the problem but no suck luck. When I start the car the J-Gate will light up in park, reverse and drive. I am getting the following codes: P0790, P1798, C1095, U2500, U1261 SCP and 1948. I would like to add I also purchased a new Battery and I got these codes after the Battery was installed.

I realize that this a a lot of information all at once but the Car will start without a problem, I just cannot get it out of Park and any assistance would be appreciated.

- I did release it the shifter, but once the shifter returns to park it remains locked that is my principal problem, the interlock solenoid is not getting power when the car is running and the brake pedal is pressed to release the shifter.

Sounds like a bad brake switch. Google it or run the search function, here.

I kinda read the first and last lines of your post but I see that you replaced the broken part and want it working properly.

"I have a 2000 XJ8 VDP and it is stuck in park. The problem started when I wen to to Drive and I forced it so the housing broke were the Interlock solenoid."

"I realize that this a a lot of information all at once but the Car will start without a problem, I just cannot get it out of Park and any assistance would be appreciated."

Figure 5.3 of the Electrical Guide diagrams the circuit for the selector lever 'park lock solenoid'. The signal goes through several modules.
Let the diagnosing begin!!

I replaced the brake light switch. The interlock solenoid is not getting any power. I applied power directly and the solenoid worked

Does anyone have a wiring diagram or know if a fuse or relay could be the culprit?

Gus has all the electrical guides for these old cars (I know because I sent him all the one's I had)

Figure 5.3 is in the 2000 XJ8 electrical diagram and I am sure you can download it in .pdf.

Fuse #7 in the LH Heelboard provides power to the Shifter Lock but also to the Interior and Boot Lights. If your interior and boot (trunk) lights are working, then it is not this fuse The fuse 7 is in the position where the attached picture shows two wires plugged-in where the fuse should be (due to my "special" installation).
