Question Stuck in Park

As the Title says, I'm STUCK in PARK. While trying to take the radio out of my '94 XJS V12 2+2 Convertible something is causing me to not be able to move the shifter out of Park! Of course the radio wont come out because the shifter is in the way, Stuck in Park! Does anyone out there have a clue or has run into a similar situation? I am totally perplexed and any help would be appreciated.

If you remove the face plate by the shifter, there is a release for the shift lever. It probably won't fix your problem, but you will be able to move the shifter.
BTW, you did have the ignition on when you tried?

You may need to press down on the brake pedal to trigger the brake switch, allowing the shifter to get out of Park.

Default solenoid?

When you try to move the car out of park, do you have your foot on the brake? If so, do you hear a "clicking" sound from the gear shift column? If so, it could be that your shifting solenoid is the problem. Had to replace mine on my Daimler Double Six a while back.

E brake on, with key in the 2 position, and engine off, press brake pedal and slide the shifter down.

I have had the same issue with my 94... I had to pump the break a few times and turn the steering wheel. It then allowed me to shift out of Park. Hope that helps.
