Are jags easy to steal?
As the title states are they easy to steal? I ask bc my last suv was stolen and totaled here in good ole arizona so Im wondering if with the special keys they are harder to steal? They do have quite an impressive panic alarm lol!
I have some 20 inch alloy tech rims and Vredestein tires I want to install, but im holding off until I hear how good jags stock security system is.
Essentially, Im wondering if i should pay the 300-400 to get my viper 991 system installed with a backup battery sensor, tilt sensor, and audio glass break sensor? Price seems steep for the install here, so im looking to the pro's on this board for some input..thanks

If someone wants to steal your car, they will...
If someone wants to steal your wheels, they will...
The Jag itself, is very difficult to start and drive away, without a key. Other than that, its alarm system is no more/less of a deterrent than most any other stock systems - pop the trunk, disconnect the battery, take what you want.

^very vaild points. guess ill have to learn to sleep in the damn car. I guess I just like the idea of the 2 way alarm system bc if someone does try to steal it at least the pager will tell me..but then u run the risk of getting shot for a car..u cant win..thanks though for the reply
The chances of getting a Jag stolen for the car/parts are probably on the lower side.
Not a big market for them.
Fancy accessories would increase the chance of theft. A good alarm can do no harm.

The Jag stock alarm is much worse than my BMW 5 series. The XJ8 alarm has no tilt sensor or glass break detection. No interior motion detector. The BMW has these features. The Jag alarm is like an alarm on a Toyota that makes fancier noises. The Jag alarm in the UK has the BMW features though. I think they can be retrofitted into the USA ones. Im not 100% sure though.
But, I think the bottom line is - nobody pays much attention to alarms any more (especially ones that go off when farted next to); false alarms are so prevalent that they've become nothing but an annoyance. Unless you hear your OWN alarm going off, the offender is likely going to have time to disable and/or to take what he wants - don't expect your neighbor to investigate.

When these cars were newer, the x308 XJRs were consistently listed on the insurance lists of vehicles most-often stolen. Easy to steal or not, they were popular.
I guess no thieves wanted XJ8s or VDPs.
