Jaguar XJR-100 steering wheel
I managed to salvage all the bits and pieces that make an x308 XJR-100 different over a standard one with the exception of the suspension.
Does anyone know if the steering wheel is really any different? The bosses look interchangeable and yet I remember reading they're not.
It looks almost identicle to the normal affair with the bur walnut replaced by leather.
The wood on the door capings and dash looks darker, birds eye maple dyed but not as sharp to my eye as the conventional burr walnut. I was going to use it in my car and re sign it- but am reconsidering now.
Id be lying if I didn't say that I'm not a little bit disappointed: the way the 100 fan boys talk about the car as if it's a bespoke item forged at SVO Browns lane. I think it's the fan boys who ruined it for me. Rant over.
Anyway- any help appreciated regarding the steering wheel

Well, its not obvious stuff .... because the picture did not show the red stitching very well ... did see it when I looked again. Jaguar sold a matching wood steering wheel if you wanted to swap out the all leather wheel -- I can't imagine why there would be any difference in the wheel specification. Most people wanted the wood wheel back then.
All the later SC cars got the CATS shocks.
Sorry that I had the nerve to answer something in a way you did not like .. or was mistaken with a logo.

I hope I can clear this up!
It will bolt straight on, they're physically the same base frame - but before you do can I suggest giving the thing a jolly good clean, the stitching can pop again with a red sharpie. R logo airbags are fitted to all XJR/XKR 100's.
If you look at the part number on the foil sticker it should say SVO ; ) (HXD 9181EB)
choices...

I'm actually thinking of getting the thing professionally refurbished and changing the upper and lower leather to 'alcantara/suede'.
"XJR-550' is experiencing 'scope creep' and is turning out to be a bit of a custom super beast!

Im worried Alcantara soils quicker than normal leather from sweat and stuff so I was thinking of restricting it to areas of the car where there's not much regular touching

Alcantara/ ultrasuede while washable is not going to be all that easy to clean on a wheel .. and it does not give the abrasion resistance that you get from leather. It's tricky to work with ... have used it to cover all kinds of stuff over the years -- furniture/ walls .. picture frames .. clothing naturally ... one of my R's has a headliner. It glues well especially, with the correct backing. Yeas ago when people wrote checks I would use the scraps to make check book covers -- over time hand prints became noticeable .. it gets shinny. You can't brush it as you can with real suede.
Have no idea what the 100 wheel is worth -- why not pick up a cheap one from an XJ8? I'm sure you could get one in poor condition for not much money and have it recovered -- seems a shame to destroy an original 100 wheel.

I can’t remember which one but I watched a demo video for the X308 on youtube and they sometimes would show a black interior and the steering wheel had the wood but the leather was perforated. I thought it looked like an XJR and figured the perforation was for the 100. I really liked that perforated leather with the wood trim.

You can find those on ebay and other online sites, I want to say last I saw was about $30 or so? I'm still undecided on them myself, I had them on my 3-series and it really popped the dash up a notch. But with the classic of the wood on the XJ, I'm not sure yet, personally.
