Your description refers to the Global Open and Global Close function. Mine works as you describe and it is my understanding that there is no way to use the fob to do a Global Close, this can only be done with the key.

To make the steering column and seat retract after taking out the key, turn the rotary switch on the left side of the column surround to the AUTO position.

The remote cannot roll up the windows and sunroof but if you hold the unlock button for several seconds I believe the windows and sunroof will open - handy if the interior of the car is hot.

After you changed the battery did you reset the memory positions of the seat?

I have read on here you can swap the drivers seat and passenger seat control unit and this may fix the issue. I hope so, because I have a similar issue, driving me crazy after my wife drives.. I have to reset the seat the mirrors oh the agony. Ok, not that bad, but since it does have the option it is irritating.

Ok, try this procedure:

Set the seat, steering, and side-view mirrors to the desired position.

Press the memory button, press the #1 button, then press one of the alarm remote buttons. After pressing the #1 button and the remote button there should be an audible chime. Then move the seat and mirrors to a different position. Now lock and unlock the car with the remote and see if the seat returns to the position you set. Good luck!
