Default KYB Front Shocks

I have the 4.0L N/A with sports suspension.

Am thinking of using KYB as replacement front shocks.
Can anyone confirm that the equivalent to the OE sports shocks would be the KYB KG5783, and had anyone had experience with these....

They are a direct replacement for sport suspension shocks although the damping is not exactly the same. I believe most people have reported that the kyb's are a bit/barely firmer than stock sports. I replaced my worn out green bilsteins front and rear with kyb and have been very happy with the quality, especially for the price

I had KYB on the rear of my XJ40 when I converted from SLS but left the OEM on the front.

The different damping rates annoyed me going over bridges or some other different level road surface because the front and rear oscillated to cause a rocking motion rather than a straight up/down. I ended up putting (BOGE or BILSTIEN??) on all four corners.

I would suggest keeping the same rate or brand on both front and rear. You can try the front and if it annoys you, then install the KYBs in the rear also (if they are available??)

I am running KYB Gas-A-Just on all four corners, and I am pretty satisfied with them, they are a little tighter than factory comfort shocks. Which I like, simply when turning they feel much tighter but still offer a great quality of ride.

Yes I have used these. While the stock shocks were off to Bilstein for rebuild. I could not detect any change in handling

Ive inherited kyb on front and something on the back which has worn out pretty much due to the clunking from the top. Thinking of getting kyb because my car is a 3.2 xj8 sport. And I agree same shocks all round is important. Cost me $540 aud for the pair of rear kyb these days.....

Got my car with kyb and hated them from start, abysmal dumping, stiff and pulling to the right, given car mileage they had 40k miles at most
Replaced them with bilsteins and 70k miles later they are as new, when they die i will go for boge, i love how they dump.

I had Boge on a 98 BMW Z3, switched to Bilsteins: better handling, much improved ride.

Boge have a specific "delayed" way of dumping with slower return from bottomed state, it gives that flying feeling, bilsteins are instantaneous and whole ride feels responsive, also very good i don't complain, both are excellent it all boils down to a personal taste.

It sounds like there are as many opinions as there are brands, even on the same brand.
The Duchess was fortunate to find some new OEMs and it was well worth the money.
