Will i need a load resistor if I put a LED Tail light/Brake light? or should it be fine?

 

The "error free" LEDs have a built in resistor.

I just bought a set of brake/tail lights from SuperBrightLEDs. The part number I got is 1157-R26-CBT. Their website says these lights are CAN Bus compatible, and specifically said they will work on my 2000 XJ8L. Well, not exactly..... They do work, and I like the nice bright light. However, every time I hit the brakes I get the "CHECK REAR LIGHTS" warning in the dash display. I emailed SuperBrightLEDs about it, and their response was "you have to install a load resistor on each bulb..."
So now I guess I need to pick up a pair of resistors.....
As Charles said, there are lights out there that have the resistor built-in. I thought what I was getting would be that type, but apparently not. If in doubt, ask the vendor. Or plan on spending an extra few bucks for resistors.

how hard is it to put resistors

 

Not complicated, but tedious with small bulbs & tiny resistors. Intricate finger work to twist or solder them on.
