Default Lights/Hazards Behavior - Normal?

Good afternoon! (Or good morning, good evening, depending on where you might be and what time it is)

Something to keep in mind: Mainly, I'm still learning the vehicle. I've been driving in Valet Mode, as I only have a Green-headed key at the moment and one of the kids pushed the button. More keys to come after I get some other issues with the vehicle resolved. I have, however, been able to file down the end of the key and can again open the boot.

The problem: When I open the driver's door, the hazards flash, then stop. During a drive, the hazards flash at odd times during the trip. When I lock the car afterwards, the hazards flash for a short time afterwards. They do not flash on their own otherwise, though. When the lights are on (DRL or Full), this does not occur. Another odd item - the instrument panel backlighting also flashes.

I half expect this to be a function of Valet Mode itself, but can find no documentation that links that behavior. Something in the electicals, perhaps?

Any thoughts? Something obvious I'm missing?

As always, much appreciated. Thanks.

I have never heard of this issue, but then again, I've never heard of anyone driving with the valet key. I would have to agree, for the most part, your suspicion of being in valet and the indicators flashing. For more keys, check here.... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/market/227433

Of course, yes - new keys are on the horizon. Another wrinkle - I discovered in the glovebox a manual and warranty card for an Avital 3100 series security system. Now, I need to determine if one is actually installed - it was in the folder with all of the other manuals, so I'm going to start with the assumption that it is. So, that's another thing that could be playing into this...and, of course, no fobs. That would make it easy.

Thanks!

This went from a inquisition to a drama.

Well, I can blame Avitel. After locating the control box (rather cleanly tucked up under the driver's side footwell) to confirm that it was actually installed, I was able to secure a replacement fob and disarm the system. No more blinky. The second fob arrived today, so now I have spares.

I don't know if its so much blaming Avitel as it would be the PO for not providing the fob and well, ..letting you know about the system.
