Default loud clunk when braking

Just got the car back ,they fitted another diff.

It hopefully has nothing to do with that last repair but..after getting it back

When i pump the brake pedal when coming to a stop ,

The car clucks and jumps up and down ,it sounds and feels like the brake calipers are

loose ...but of course they not..

Could it be the subframe mountings ,? this really scares me ,any ideas

Where to look first,?

Another problem ,i also have a ABS Trac /Stab light

When i drive the car and it goes in second gear the light goes out....{i will

Have it checked for codes} ,hopefully thats only a ABS sensor lead ...

How do know the calipers aren't loose. I had one of mine come loose a few hundred miles after I purchased the car...

Open the hood.... drive 5-10mph and hit the brakes... if you see the engine shift up, its the subframe mounts

Go with the obvious: if they replaced the diff, everything along the drive train and axle was removed: something was not bolted up correctly. Get it on a lift. Calipers, first, driveshaft universal rubber connectors worn or badly placed, some bolt left off or night torqued.

or engine mounts, with one foot on the brake, rev the engine lightly see if there's abnormal movement from the engine.

I'd be suspicious of the recent work too, if the above checks don't reveal anything, it's got to go back to the shop you had the diff change work done, and show them.

Did you get the shock bushes done too?

Thanks you very much for the input everyone!

@Sean ,I ordered the rear lower shock bushings ,

The engine mounts and rear trans mount are new ,
Hoped that would solve the problem but it is still there .

I already went back to that garage that placed the diff ,,

They found a front Cats Shock with movement on the Shock Shaft ....replaced that shock and bush so thats tight ,

But still the heavy shuddering and bounce under pumping repeated application of the brakes.

@Jhartz

I also thought they made a mistake with the rear diff swap ,

But the knock really seems to be coming from the front ,even though its sometimes difficult the locate a problem on these cars ...if the front subframe bushings are ok then the rear is the next to look at...

Just found that it dont knocks and bounces , when i repeatedly apply the Brake pedal .. .......when i drive backwards.

front subframe Vee mounts are sounding more likely at this point

Leave the hood up... drive FORWARDs 5-10mph and hit the brakes hard... look at the engine...it if shifts up, its certainly your Vee mounts
