Default Need help on code P1121

Hey guys, my 2003 XJR has been thru a series of issues involving the throttle body which I was told was due to detailed using harsh chemicals. After a while it refused to go out of clearing codes with an ODB2 it was time to be towed. My mechanic told me he found a zip tie holding part of the throttle cable from a past mechanic and said that particular jag did not have a throttle body but a standard throttle cable. We need help understanding the code P1121 and P1000 which I understand is part of the drive cycle. Any suggestions?

Hi Bigevent,
I can't advise on your beloved, but have a look at these posts, I wish you luck in getting it sorted asap (as soon as possible!) Regards, Stu

Hi again Bigevent,
What I understand of p1000 is the drive cycle did not complete the check so P1121 is the fault to address. Once you have P1121 under control, which is the throttle body although I am not sure what the exact problem is, then the ECU should scan correctly and P1111 should be reinstated as "running normal".
I am not a pro, I have just been checking out info on your problem from other posts.
Regards, Stu

P1121 is a the pedal position sensor on the side of the TB, it's knackered and you'll need it reconditioned or s/h or new TB.

More info on an old post I made with the same fault....been there done that a couple of times on various XJ8's now...

By the way the zip tie is factory fitted to lock the cable in place, if it's cut it needs replacing because if the cable falls loose then there's problems, like it stuck wide open, or not moving.

The past mechanic was the tech at the DEALER doing what he/she was SUPPOSED to do. (INSTALL THE 'ZIP-TIE')

It was a RECALL R466
