hi guys thanks to all who been helping me fix my heater motor problem.now car has been stood a week while i sorted heater problem.finally sorted and started car today only to find it wont rev over 3000rpm and on the dash it says restricted performance..now the only thing what i did was take battery off car and charge italso discharged system by touching negative lead to positive.battery is back on and wont rev past 3000rpm it sounds like its bouncing off a rev limiter. any suggetions please

 

IF this is in park or neutral it's normal. built in rev limiter.

 

hi yes its in park .i will go and try it now down the rd and will come back on here and let you know the out come.thanks for the quick reply .hiwill be tomorrow as ijust remembered the rubber seal on the aluminum cap is leaking were you put coolant so will seek one tomorrow .thankyou

Since you have the restricted performance message, you need to pull the codes and see what is triggering this.

Doing a hard reset will not remove the codes.
You need an OBD scanner.

Please pull the codes and report back what they are.

Sounds like a sensor to me.

 

hi here they are code p1316 misfire rate exceeds emissions..p1646 linear 02 sensor1 control chip p0332 generic knock sensor2 circuit low input bank 2 p0327 generic knock sensor1 circuit low input bank1 or 1 sensor ..this car did take some starting middle of week due to the cold weather so it did clear it self and the car revved up fine stationary.since.after starting it then i tried to start it today and first time but would not rev over 3000rpm.the car runs on lpg and petrol...the car has run a treat up untill a week ago when i was fixing heater pump .only played up since it stood this week but it has been very cold causing battery to go flat.i tried a reset by taking battery lead off touching neg lead to pos then refit.

 

The knock sensor fault will trigger restricted performance and limit the engine RPM to 3000 MAX.

You can do the same test on car if you can tap on the sensor . This is a test that can be done both as hot and cold ,
suggest both .

You are looking at resistance at socket 6 through 14 , and 6 through 23

hi i have tested knock sensors with a digital meter on ohms. readings were 0.57ohms and the second knock sensor 0.17ohms are they knackered. also is there away of bypassing them.as the price is a rip off.at £68.00 plus vat each. .also thank you for all your help so far.

 

In my opinion 0.40 ohms is not much of a difference between the 2 as they work as a change of resistance in only 1 as they sense a knock and adjust the timing . Did you tap on them and get them to respond ?

 

hi no i had already taken them off car..just put each prong on each connection to see what they read.
