Default NO Compression.

My car has been sitting up for about 2 months. Tried to crank it today and it will not turn over.

It sounds like the this car.

any suggestions. I was in an accident but was cranking before I let it sit.

Cylinder wash?
Do a search within this forum and you will find the solution if this is indeed the problem.

When the starter causes the engine to spin it is called turning over. That does not mean it's running, or starting.

If the engine won't 'turn over' you might check the battery or starter.

Not bore wash, is it, if it won't turn over? I think he needs to answer Bob's question.

Does the engine crank; if it cranks, but won't start, then, maybe bore wash. But he was also in an accident: points to inertia switch (if it turns over).

Well the video he posted sounds like it turning over. I see a belt turning and it sounds like it's turning over to me. Maybe his explanation and video don't match. But if his car turns over then it sounds like Bore wash to me. I just went through this April/May.

You do realize that the car in the video is a Mazda, correct? It's not his Jag.. He's just using it as a sound reference.

My thinking, although the inertia switch suggestion makes a lot of sense.
Time for the OP to come back.

"Do run, run, run. The do run, run............???"

These all mean the same thing, starter spins, but the engine will not "run" or try to start.

The engine to turned over, but it wouldn't fire up.
The engine cranked, but wouldn't start.
It would spin, but wouldn't catch.

And fire doesn't mean run well either.

"Engine would fire, but it wouldn't run." Means it tries to start then dies.

I don't know why "crank" has come to mean "start or run" lately, but it is a commonly confused term.

Gotta be careful though, I got jacked for insisting that our "cam covers" be called such and not incorrectly called "valve covers."

Will she crank, will she spin, will she fire, will she run?

If it will crank but not start - bore wash, fuel pump or inertia switch.

If it will not crank - Battery, starter, grounds, security system fault + 100.

Don't all cars pretty much make the same sound turning over? Mazda, Toyota or Jag? If his car made that noise then it's turning over.

The definition of turning over.
It means that the battery has enough "juice" to turn the starter motor, which is "turning the engine over"...but it won't start and run on it's own.

We're all discussing but the OP has not responded so I think we are 'spinning-our-wheels' here.

Update: I got the car started today. I removed the spark plugs, add oil to each cylinders. After a few tries to crank it it started right up.

Thanks for all the help.

yeah, bore wash, I had a coil go out once, the thing turned over super fast like no compression, I just kept cranking stopping every 30 seconds and it finally caught. Changed out my coil and all has been good.
