Default no start 2002 xj8

Went to put fuel in the Jag and no restart. Inertia switch seems good on test per owners manuel. Key on fuel fuses seem good, crank no start feels like getting no fuel. Going to replace pump any other thoughts before I do?

Also vehicle has gone into a limp no power mode on a few occasions. Just turned off key and restarted and seemed good. 57,000 original miles purchased from original owners first time Jag owner. Love that baby!

Default Crank No Start

Yeah, welcome to the forum, gm_dude (you might want to think about that handle ;^)).
Could it be you had cylinder wash ? There is a lot in the archives on that. Also, you can check the fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail. It looks like a tire valve stem and should have a cap on it. Fuel pump replacement on these doesn't sound like much fun. Fortunately, I haven't had that pleasure yet.

Welcome - have you any warning lights? Also need to now the codes set when it went limp, there's an OBD port under the dash, drivers side to connect a scan tool, then we can help further.

Fuel test if there's fuel pressure on the fuel injection rail, have someone crank the engine and press the schrader valve, if it squirts the pump's good, if it dribbles then it's amiss - this is a rough and ready test, not thorough - to do that you need a fuel pressure tester connected to the valve, and that should read around 40p.s.i. on cranking.

Fuel filter is also a suspect.

Thanks for the replys. I put a fuel pump in it yesterday and she ran like a champ. It was not an easy task as some people reported but got ur done. Used an after market pump as sugested i one of the coments posted. Once fuel pump was removed tested it with 9 v battery and not even a click.

Still have the concern with the limp mode I'm sure the pump will not reslove issue. just purchased the gold connectors for the MAS have heard that could be the coulpert???? Any thoughts? Thanks agian for the info looking forward to enjoying my Jag.

You need to get the codes read before throwing parts at it. Even a generic reader may help, so stop at one of the stores like Autozone and ask them to check codes.
