I need advice regarding the supercharger intercooler on my 2003 XJR. The part I received from Jaguar, which was described as OEM (MNC8200AF), does not fit. Specifically, the lower mounting brackets do not line up with the radiator support frame screw holes. Moreover, it seems that the overall design has changed from the original.
Can somebody please share their experience about replacing the supercharger intercooler and whether the original supercharger intercooler is still available?
To illustrate this problem I am attaching a few pictures.
1. The supercharger intercooler that was delivered by Jaguar:
2. The original supercharger intercooler: Original intercooler on eBay
3. The mounting bracket of the supercharger intercooler delivered by Jaguar does not line up with the screw hole
4. The mounting bracket of the original supercharger intercooler (picture taken from underneath of my 2002 XKR for comparison)
I think I can answer your question from my experience(learned a lesson) . you may have received a wrong one which is for the later X350 XJ or S type.
Years ago I got one from eBay and realized that it wasn't for our x308.
May I ask exactly where you got it from? as far as I am aware. the OEM jaguar one is never in raw aluminum finish. I upgraded mine to powerhouse UK one which IS aluminum .
also thou I can validate that, I was told that (early x100 ) and our X308 the radiator is different at the outlet position.
I would go back and ask your seller varify with VIN# . IF that is an OEM , that should look identical to the original one in your car.
Hello,
I double and triple checked the VIN# and the part# with the supplier, Terry's Jaguar, my trusted source of parts for many years. I agree that the intercooler should not be raw aluminum finish. Perhaps the original intercooler is no longer available and they sourced an aftermarket intercooler, which of course Jaguar would never admit.
The X350 and S-type intercoolers are a very different design.
Thanks for your reply
My original MNC8200AF looked exactly like the MNC8200AE version and the label read: DENSO MNC8200AF, which created the confusion. The MNC8200AE version, which is no longer available by Jaguar, was superseded by MNC8200AF. The MNC8200AF version is described to provide much better cooling performance: https://www.xk8-parts.com/2014/08/ja...or-mnc8200afu/
The link is for the "MNC8200AFU" uprated aftermarket radiator. Quite good but, as usual with aftermarket, the installation is not straight forward. To install this radiator in my X308 (see pics), I had to do some grinding (including grinding down of the welds on the radiator, fighting for every millimetre) and cutting/bending at the body frame corners in order to squeeze it in. Also, the hose ports left and right are, for some reason, not in the same line as on the original radiator (the LH port is as original, the RH is lower). The bracket holes aligned though.

This links explains a similar point I made earlier. XJR and XKR intercooler mounting points are slightly different and for XJR it requires some grinding. Not a direct bolt on
I'm just trying to share my experience ...But good luck with your...
