Hi, my name is Eddie. I am the proud owner of a new to me 98 XJ8, beautiful paint and interior with only 50,000 miles. Being new to Jaguar I do have a few questions if anyone can help!

1) Car stopped and would not start again. Thought it may be the fuel pump but i had just had it changed. Towed it home were it sat for 2 days and when I started it she purrred!! Can't figure out what the cause may be.

2) Didn't get the owner's manual so I can't figure out what the "S" button is for.

3) Where can i get a manual for a reasonable price?

Any help will truly be appreciated!!

Sport Mode Switch selects either normal 'N' or sport'S' mode.
When sport mode is selected the gear shift points are extended to make full use of the engine's power reserves.
To operate: Press the switch (The switch lights up to indicate that sport mode has been selected. Press the switch again to cancel sport mode.

The 1998 Jaguar XJ driver (owners) Handbooks appear to be the same as the 1999 year ones.
Both have the same publication reference: Published by Service Communications Jaguar Cars Limited Publications Part No JJM 18 02 12/87

According Jagdocs.com 1998 and 1999 vehicle care handbooks are the same (they sell the 98-99 handbook pdf files as a download).
