Hey Everybody,

Just after paying $2,700 to have the transmission repaired on my XJ8, I went to fill her up with gas and to my surprise she wouldn't take any gas. The car would only take a few dollars and stop as if it were full, and in some cases overflow out of the gas tank.

If I tap the charcoal canister before going to fill up the car will take fuel like a charm, if you don't then it won't take any gas. I'm assuming a valve is stuck closed and when tapped it will open.

The car is giving a P0446 code (Evaporative Emission Systems Vent Control Circuit) and I'm not sure exactly what I need to buy and replace.

Do I need a whole new charcoal evap cannister, or is it the purge valve/vapor canister control?

Any help would be much appreciated!
