Passenger door stuck shut.
Hi guys,
Hate to join a forum and head straight into a tech question but I'm struggling with this one.
My passenger door is stuck locked shut, neither handle will open it and it doesn't move on the fob either. I've read the best way to get the door off but don't really know what I'd be looking for as the likely cause when I did. Can anyone help?
Cheers

Below is a link that has all of the details for getting to the mechanism and opening the door. You will need to remove the seat. Just unbolt from the floor and unplug the seat electrical connector. It is a bit heavy so I would just wrestle it to the back seat.
Door panel removal, go to post #2 for video and the remainder will guide you for repair and troubleshooting to unlock. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...pulled-215702/

Just had a go finally at the door, got the trim off, in the process somehow unseated the latch end of the cable. The nylon rubber mentioned in the above thread was in ok shape, and I'm pretty sure I need a new latch. Now I just have this problem: How on Earth am I going to reseat the nylon stopper OR replace the latch with a door that is stuck shut no matter which handle I try?
Any advice really appreciated

Take a deep breath and relax, all is not lost. Go back to the link I posted for you and go to the parts blow up. Feel behind the latch between the latch and door exterior. Can you feel piece #8 and is the rod going up still connected? If not is Piece #8 still connected? Next is the rod Piece #11 still connected? If not can you feel the hole where it should be connected? The first thing is to push the rod Piece #11 up to unlock the mechanism. If it will not stay in the up position then put a clamp on it to hold it up. Now when you raise the rod Piece #8 or piece #8 itself the door should open. If the rod is still connected you can have someone lift the outside handle
Give it a whirl and get back to us.

Thanks for the advice both on the door and taking a breath avern!
Short story, I got the door open and have ordered a new actuator.
Long story, I had to break through the plastic cover and jimmy the latch with a screwdriver. Both the number 8 and 11 rods you mentioned were still connected correctly, but used in any combination were not making any difference. Eventually I popped out the little white circle in the casing, and then used the hole it was sitting in to break the case up with some snips. Not neat but I figured I'm going to need a new mechanism anyway so not the end of the world. This exposed the top of the actuator, which can be seen in plenty of threads. I used a screwdriver to lever the metal latch connection to the top of the actuator and hey presto it opened on the handle.
It doesn't lock now, where before it didn't unlock, so I've ordered a replacement actuator and hopefully that will be that. Also worth mentioning that the nylon piece on the inside handle cable which was a big deal in the thread above is just floating free on the cable right now on my car and the door still opens with both handles. If anyone is reading this for their car then definitely buy replacement trim fasteners.
