Default Play on rear wheel

Left rear wheel has play. Side to side just can hear. Top to bottom maybe 1/16". Right side rock solid. No movement or sound. I understand this is the wheel bearing. Was going to switch entire rear end from my parts car until figured out it's driver's side also has some play. Can't see it move. Just hear it click. Although less play on parts car, not worth the trouble of switching. Questions: Is this 1/16" play an issue if I frequently check it? When they go bad, is it a slow process or quick failure?

More than likely the lower fulcrum bearings if there is no 12-6 o'clock play but only 3-9 o'clock.(wheel bearings are loose all the way around)

@motorcarman Is the attached what you're referring to as the lower fulcrum bearings.
