Default Power steering fluid change?

Power steering fluid change? So I tried to come up with a better way I’m not saying it was the right way but this is what I did with the car up on the lift I disconnected the quick disconnect right after the cooler . Since it was windy are used a drip pan to catch all the oil and it was a mess. I’m not sure how how much came out but right away it emptied the reservoir then I cycled the wheels back-and-forth back-and-forth without the car running then with the car running and more fluid came out. After I quit dripping I just sealed it back up at the quick disconnect then fill the reservoir about three times. One thing is it’s clean fluid . But if I had to do it over again I think I would add some fluid in the reservoir then see if it was coming out clean at the disconnect?

Be sure to go "lock to lock" with the wheel to get all the air out...don't go too fast. You should repeat the process about 5 complete lock to lock movements, or until no more air bubbles...then top off as needed. Check the fluid after a couple of rides.

I did it to a second XJ8 tonight this time I did a little bit different I was ready to capture the oil with the pan and the wind wasn’t blowing that bad so I cut down on the mess. Then I cycled the car and the wheels to get as much out as I could before I filled it up I dump some power steering fluid in the reservoir and cycled it again that seem to blow out a lot of the extra dark fluid it started coming out with a lot of air in it sort of foam anyway I have plenty of power steering fluid so I did it one more time and then cycled it through put the line back on it then lowered it down and sealed up the reservoir move the wheels and then refilled did it again shut it off and there’s a lot of foam In the reservoir but I am sure it will work out

No need to disconnect anything....just jack front of car so tyres are just off the ground
and I used a vacuum suction device to suck out old fluid, replace with ATF and start engine, rotate steering left to right half a dozen times...stop engine suck out the fluid and place a full bottle of Lucas Power Steering Revival Fluid...this stuff flows like honey so is best to heat up in a pot of hot water so it flows better....top off with normal ATF and do the circulating routine.
This is excellent stuff and I have been using it for over 12 years....replaced fluid twice in that time.
Makes the steering super smooth and after 217,000klm nary a leak anywhere ;o))
