Default Prgramming fob!

I have a 1999 Jaguar XJ8 since I have had my car the key fobs do not work. The only button that works is the headlight button. I wondered if anyone had any idea how you program these fobs so they will work with my car ?.

If any one button works on the keyfob transmitter, then it IS configured to the car.

The transmitter is likely faulty and needs to have the buttons 'cleaned' or the fob REPLACED!!

Default Update!

Is there any problems with a car that could stop this working ?. I followed the instructions carefully a few times and it did not work. I even followed other guides I found on youtube and still did not work. I pulled the headlight stalk towards the steering wheel. I inserted the key to the first position while still holding headlight stalk towards the steering wheel. I then flashed the full beams 5 times as said. Other guides said 4 times so I tried this as well. There was no beep or anything. I even pressed the buttons and still nothing.

Many Thanks
Mat

As suggested by Bob, the problem is in the fob itself. Over time, gunk will accumulate on the fob's PC board at the sensing points (where the buttons touch the board) and needs to be cleaned. Open the fob up and inspect/clean.
