Default Q: AJ27/SC - oil pressure/boost sender tees

reposted from:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...er-tees-52435/

Where could someone tee into lines or ports for aftermarket oil pressure and vacuum/boost gauges?

The usual candidate for oil pressure is to tee the factory oil pressure sender. Suggestions of secondary locations would be nice.

Then there is the vacuum/boost gauge. It has to see the pressure downstream from the supercharger. Is there a port somewhere?

If anyone knows the thread sizes of the ports, that would really cut down on the "remove, take a look, put it back, drive to parts store" routine.

The three selected gauges are:

voltmeter
oil pressure
vacuum/boost combo

Real needles please. No interest in siphoning data from the ECU whatsoever.

these add-ons are something I'd suspect the S Type R, XKR crowd would install. Maybe post in the general/engines or S and XK forums?

Already tried "general technical help", a couple of bumps, and a plea to a particular member.

The boost sensing is the most problematic.

Searching on "boost gauge" only yields a few threads, with one old post claiming tying into the fuel pressure port? HUH?

The oil pressure is less problematic. Just looking for alternate locations aside from teeing the stock oil pressure sender port.

The vacuum/pressure for the fuel pressure port DOES make sense though. T off from there. It's taken off the central plenum that says "V8" on it- there's a very small 1/4 inch hose/port to the left (when viewing engine from the front).
At Jaguar we would drill and tap our own ports- that's what I do with my own project cars also.
You take your choice.

Thumbs up

Thank you again for this and your answer in the other post.

The tee will be fine, given that the cleaner approach of drilling & tapping is ideally done with the parts off the engine.
