Does anyone have a parts manual handy?

Need to replace my clock light in both my 98 and 00 XJ's...and the lights for the fog lamp switch pack and the trip computer switch packs.

Anyone have the P/N(s) of the jag parts handy?

I suggest ordering the SNG Barrett catalog. What you need in in there.

 

Clock - LNC5180AA

 

Fog lamp and Trip computer - Bulb is T4 twistlock type. When your remove the original, keep the little blue rubber bonnet for the new bulb. That's what gives it the greeny/blue colour. Jaguar is the best place for them.

LNA5180DA includes the cover. one of the other lna5180** ones has no cover, i think that's the AA used for clock and maybe some other places. There's some different bulbs used in other places.

I forget which spec twist lock it is exactly, t4 seems right. I ordered a bunch of clears off the 'bay for cheap forever ago, seems like the order itself got lost but I have the bulbs in arms reach. It's surprisingly hard to find incandescent mini twistlocks, everything is trending towards blinding colored LED's nowadays. I've also got a bunch of dead ones nearby for measurements if needed. The 'bay ones I bought needed some modifications, they had an extra lip which needed to be bent off for them to fit. No issues since then I think...

I second that, I find that the website is the most useful database for part numbers and for giving you an idea where a part fits.

It is run by the Jaguar Heritage Division at the factory, I find that, in the UK at least, that sometimes they sell parts cheaper than some of the other suppliers and it's all OEM stuff.

 

Did anyone come to a conclusion for the trip switch bulb # ?!

 

They're T4 twist locks if I remember right, I usually have these things spare to pull to bits but sadly I can't locate the box of interior switches!

 

Only thing I can find is LEDs which I don't want in that area. Surely Jaguar had a part # for these somewhere lol.

 

With some careful searching I was able to find some halogen twist locks, either on the 'bay or Amazon. It took a while, and I haven't been able to find them since, and the ones I got needed some modification to fit, but they worked.

If I ever recover my bookmarks off my old PC, I'll post a couple links that some others posted to useful sites for finding odd sized bulbs. I'm usually good about noting my repairs but I don't think I ever updated my log with the exact sized bulbs I used...

Thank you, King Charles. In getting at the clock on an 01 XJ, is it best to disconnect the battery to avoid setting off the airbag? the wood fascia over the pass air bag seems to cover one of the screws I need to get at.

And while I have you, any idea where I could get one of those black screws thaty holds the A/C outlet and clock in place?

Always safest to disconnect power when dealing w/ airbags, you can get by by just popping one fascia end out to access the screw.

Those black screws I'm not sure, maybe take one you have & match @ a local hardware shop ?!

Just to add to the airbag question, if I'm not mistaken, Jaguar stipulates that after the battery is disconnected you must wait at least 30 minutes (possibly longer on some models) before working around an airbag. I believe the reason is that the airbag modules have capacitors in their power supplies that can fire the igniters even if a collision disrupts the vehicle's power supply, and it takes time for the capacitors' charge to drain off. You might check the Workshop Manual for warnings specific to your model.

LA, the wood fascia around the A/C vent/clock is easily removed, it just snaps in place. You would think that they could have designed the A/C vent/clock unit so that was all you had to remove to gain access to the retaining screws......but no, they made sure that you can't quite get to the left-hand screw, and if you do manage to, the A/C vent is still too wide to remove! So the dash gauge fascia has to be removed, which fortunately is also an easy task as it just clips in place. The right hand screw holding the A/C vent/clock is also not accessible without removing the right side wood fascia covering the passenger airbag, and it is not so easily removed. It seems to be firmly held in place, and takes quite a lot of force to ease it outwards, and I found that it has to be withdrawn equally on both sides for it to move at all. I have never actually removed one, only pulled one back far enough to (only just) remove the A/C vent/clock.

As per KC, I would think you could easily find some replacement screws at your local hardware store.

And as per Don B, I would be VERY cautious about that air bag. Personally I would disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected overnight just to be sure.

And if you need a replacement A/C vent/clock for any reason, I have a spare one from a 2000 XJ8
