Default Rad removal - ac as well?

Hello! sorry my third post is a question!

Just got a 2001 XJR and the engine coolant is leaking out from the bottom of the rad. Have a replacement rad to fit in but the workshop manual it says I need to remove the AC pipes and depressurise the system to get the rad out. It is possible to get the rad out without doing this as don't really want to have to regass the AC unless I have to. thanks!

You can do it without cracking the air con, problem is the condenser is bolted to the front of the rad. Grill and front bumper off to make space to get at it.

Hope this helps.

I agree, it is not too bad. Be careful of the mounting clips and bolt clips, though- they get brittle.

the pipes I'm confused with are these two circled to the left:

if they are for the AC how do you swap the rad without depressurising the system? unless they are for something else? haven't taken the existing rad out yet so might become clear then!

A 2001 XJR...probably high mileage...I would tend to do it the easy way and remove both the rad and A/C....as most likely at this stage of it's life it would need a purge and re-gas anyway....kill two birds and all that.
Damn sight easier than faffing about and running the risk of damaging pipes and fittings.
Certainly cheaper in the long run and you have a good A/C to boot ;o)
