Has anyone removed the rear most mufflers and added straight pipe? I did this on my 05 XK8 and it was louder only on rapid acceleration. Will it drone? at part throttle. 2000 XJ8 base.

 

You can simply remove the rear mufflers and drive it around a bit like that to get a rough idea of how it sounds. I wouldn't do that for too long or too aggressively cause it dumps the exhaust right onto the inner tire sidewall. It is noticeably louder under acceleration without too much noise at idle. I did notice some droning at certain RPM's but that might be improved slightly with the correct piping going all the way to the back. It's definitely on my list of future mods to do.
