Default Removed Rear Mufflers

Well I was bored and removed the rear mufflers or resonators (not sure what exactly they are just know there the very last set before the rear bumper). I really like the way it sounds and its great that there is no droning in the cabin. Was curious if I can keep it like this or I should run pipes to the rear for safety sake? I know the cutouts look stupid blank but am more worried about the exhaust gases dumping right below the fuel tank!

I would be worried about that extra heat directed onto the bumper

You could just put 90* bends and dump the exhaust straight down. I know a lot of muscle car guys that do this before the axle. The further back the less likely fumes will reach the inside and dumps will keep the heat away from the bumper.
