Hey guys,

As I want to remove my door handles to paint them properly, I would need some new gaskets between handle and door skin. Mine are cracked and dead. No new ones out there as it looks.

Has anyone had any ideas what tomdo instead? Use silicone? Or maybe some dense foam cut to shape? Or what would you use?

I haven't used these, but would like to hear from someone who has. My driver door especially needs this seal replaced as it's quickly crumbling away.

although pricier than the ebay ones, Welsh also carries these - bought a set for my XK8 a few years ago and they work like a champ

A set if 4 would set me back a lot of cash! With transport and import duties... I'd be around €120 (easily) for 4 where as I am now only €35 poorer than before

These are much different (more robust) than the simple "oval" rings seen on eBay for $18.54 ea. These require door handle removal. I could not imagine "picking pieces" of OEM gasket (degraded and crumbling OEM), so will be having the Welsh gaskets fitted soon after New Year begins. It is a matter of water intrusion past crumbling (UV damage) OEM gaskets.

I wonder if an exterior grade black silicon caulking would work for gaskets that are not too far gone. The exterior caulking would have u.v. inhibitors and would be a whole lot easier to do rather than taking all 4 doors apart. I have seen small tubes of this available.
