Restricted Performance?
I purchased a 1999 Xj8 3.2 sport last week and all was perfect until yesterday.
after about 5 minutes of driving the "Restricted Performance" warning appeared and the yellow light on the dash lit up. There is no other warnin messages which might idicate where the problem is.
Does anyone know what it could be?
I have read it could be coolant level sensor or air filter
This is my first Jag so am a little unsure.

Hi Meader,
You need a standard OBD II reader. They are available at most autoparts stores between $100 and $400 depending on what you want to spend. Or most of the larger stores will read them for you.

P0355 Cylinder 2 ignition coil issue
P1111 Codes reset since last scan (always gives one like this or P1000)
I just replaced an ignition coil, pretty easy job, $140 from jagbits, jagpartsgraveyard said they had one for $75 but I had already purchased the other one.

At least there is only one problem rather that two.
I found the part here http://www.britishparts.co.uk/.sc/ms...GNITION%20COIL
for £74.99 ($113).
i hope this fixes the problem.
Is this something anybody can change or should i go to a mechanic?

You can change an ignition coil yourself very easily. Disconnect the battery, remove the coil covers (six bolts) and all the ignitions coils will be exposed. remove the wire plug to the coil, and undo the two bolts holding the coil into the valve cover. Check for oil around the coil boot while your at it. Oil around the boot indicates a leaking valve gasket. Be very careful when tightening the coils. (4-5 nm) is the torque spec.
I would suggest swapping the suspected bad coil with another to see if the problem moves. That will tell you for sure before buying a 100 dollar part.for example, if the code says cylinder 2, swap the coils for 1 and 2 and see if the problem moves to 1.
excellent suggestion.
i have a UK model (RHD) 1999 XJ8 V8 Sport.
