Default Sport Button - XJR vs. XJ8 ...different? Compatible?

My sport button on my XJR is sticky and takes a few pushes to turn on/off. I have a sport button from an XJ8 but I noticed that the XJ8 button has 2 extra pins on it. Of course there are no wires to go to those pins on my car, so they will be unused.

Will the XJ8 button work as it should on the XJR or are they incompatible?

Also, the part numbers are different. Everything is the same, except one ends with AA and the other ends with BB.

Answered my own question. It seems they are NOT interchangeable. The plug is the same, but as mentioned the XJ8 switch has 2 extra pins. Apparently it makes a difference, as the sport button does not light up or anything when activated.

You should be able to use your original switch.
Take it out and give it a liberal dose of electronic parts cleaner/lubricant
to get it working.
Had a similar problem with my cruise switch so lubed both of them while they were out....no more trouble ;o)

My issue isn't in the electrical portion of the switch, it is in the upper button portion. You can see some metal pieces that slide when the button is pushed and that is what would stick. The button wouldn't push down at all or sometimes it would take a few times to turn the switch on or off.

I ended up taking both switches apart and swapping just the upper button portion to my stock switch. Now my stock switch works just fine, but the XJ8 switch has the sticking problem...this is how I know it is isolated to the upper button piece. I may try to lubricate it and see if it helps, but otherwise the XJ8 one does not work in the XJR. Apparently the two extra pins really do make a difference and need to be utilized.
