Default Strange "beeping" in cabin

When I turn the ignition to the on position ( or just start the car), I am getting a series of 5 "beeps" in a row, then a pause, then it repeats this pattern for exactly five times, then stops.
It has been doing this ever since I replaced the plastic center a/c vent (the open/shut wheel broke on one side).
I thought maybe I had pinched a wire, or something to that effect, so I removed it, checked everything out and reinstalled it again.
It is still doing it, every time I start the car.
On another note, it did stop for no reason I know of, for about a week. Then it resumed this pattern of beeps upon start up.
Recently, it did it after I had been driving for a while. It just started out of nowhere, and did its 5 beep pattern thing, five times and then stopped.
Any ideas as to what the heck this is?
Everything seems fine with the car.

Does it come from the A/C control panel?
If so, run the fault codes and see what is shows.
Page 4 gives the procedures, 2 steps.

It's hard to tell where it's coming from, but that makes sense. Thank you for the .pdf.
What is the PDU is says to refer to after the code explanations?
Thank you sir!!

That would be great! Thank you so much.
I am flying today and will be gone for a week, so my baby will be parked at home. As soon as I return I will get the codes and we can go from there.
You have been of great help, and I really appreciate it sir!!
Have a great week and we'll chat next week.

Hello Eric!
I have returned from my trip. Okay, ran the diagnostic you suggested and there are no codes on the a/c panel.
Any other thoughts on this series of beeping?

When you turn on the ignition and the instrument lights perform a test, does the Airbag Warning Light come on? If not, then the system will emit a series of beeps to indicate a fault with the airbag.
If so and you need to change the bulb, look at my XJ8 renovation thread and you can see how to get to the bulb for the airbag warning as it's not accessible just by removing the instrument pack.

Here is a link to my post, I've also added a photo here to show you which will be the air bag bulb.

Air, you are exemplary! That was a fast response!
Okay, so I remove the cluster and access that circuit board from the rear? Or can it be accessed in another way.

You will have to remove the instrument cluster from the car, it's not a hard job.
Opening up the rear of the cluster requires a torx screw driver to undo the screws, and you will need to GENTLY lever the little plugs off the top of the circuit board. These go to the needles themselves. Underneath you also need to GENTLY lever the red plug off it's receiver which is you message centre plug. Then you should be able to remove the board from the housing.

Wow, thank you Stu! I'm going to take a chance and ask one more question of you since you seem to know your stuff and obviously are a very nice person.
I have brake lights, but no tail lights. Headlights and turn signals are fine as well.
Is there a relay or fuse I can check out? Need locations if so. I just replaced the security locking module and reprogrammed the remote, everything seems good with this exception. New battery as well.

Hi
The brake and tail light share a bulb, they are a dual filament type. I'd check both bulbs first to see it just the tail light filaments have gone. They are cheap so you could just buy a new pair of bulbs to test.
As far as fuses go, the luggage compartment fuse box has fuses #19 and #21 for side lights, should be 5 amp fuse. The relay for the tail lamps is also in that box so give them all a jiggle or clean.
As a final resort you could check the multiplug where it connects to the bulb carriers, check the wires haven't been pulled or damaged.

Glad you might be up to something thx to Stu.

If you work on the gauge cluster, just take your time on a big flat table and soft rags underneath. The connectors are tiny, but they do come off if you handle them carefully.
Here are some more pictures: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...5/#post1003948
Check if you have all other warning lights.

On the rear lights, note that the brake / tail light bulbs are directional when mounting. The little pins on the side have different heights, and you will see the slots in the bulb carriers accommodate for these pins in just ONE position.
You will get it if you see it.

While you got the carriers out, clean up the contacts and be sure bulbs are hold tight (otherwise bent the brackets a little bit), this will prevent the CHECK REAR LIGHT message coming up sooner or later.
Spraying the connectors with a bit of contact spray might help as well.

Stu and Eric, thank you so much for all of the help!! I got the tail lights working, but not sure how!
I hit all connections to the bulb housings, relays and their seats and a yellow thingy that coupled together in the trunk fuse box with contact cleaner, and bam.....tail lights!

Okay, I was thinking that instead of attacking the idea of bulb replacement in the cluster ( for the beeping), I would purchase another cluster and install it. I found one that showed the system start up lights "on" in the picture, but I did not see the airbag light. I was wondering if it usually came on and went away quickly and just didn't make the pictures?
I just don't want to purchase a cluster with the same bulb issue I apparently have.

Any thoughts?

Thanks guys!!
Scott

Well, that's a beginning, good!

On the cluster replacement, be a bit cautious.
The cluster is one of the central brains in the car electronics, and it seems related to production year of car and cluster if a replacement will work or not.

More specific, you will need your VCATS sticker info, you can read more about it in the thread I linked about earlier when I changed my cluster.
It is not known how limited you really are for a workable exchange, but it might prevent you from other problems.

Then as important, bulbs and LED's are known to burn out on our clusters, it is just a time issue.
The chance you will buy an other cluster with problems is in my opinion higher than just bite the bullet and take the cluster out.
If you are not able to do it yourself, it should be relative easy to find some one to do the repair for you.

That sounds like great advise Eric! The LAST thing I want to do is introduce new problems, especially electrical and compatibility ones.
Okay, many thanks again sir!
Great Labor Day to you!

The bulb arrowed is not the SRS ...the SRS is a led not a filament lamp
