Hello everyone! I apologize since there's plenty of threads about this. Anyways, simply put, my sunroof will not open. I'm not too sure what it could be. I believe it might be the motor, and not too sure. Anyway I can fix this myself without going to a mechanic and having it looked at or just determining the problem at-least? Thanks everyone; enjoy your week!
Two items to add:
How do I manually move the sunroof open/close?
I opened up the upper console and the motor was not moving at all, no sound from it. So this leads me to think the motor is long gone. I've noticed a connection is missing ( In the picture ) where the white connector is. Is there supposed to be a wire there? If so, maybe that's why the sunroof won't open.
The wire harness connector was probably removed for a reason. I uploaded several TSBs in the large file download area for diagnosis/repair and this topic has been beaten to death.
The X300 and X308 sliding roofs are IDENTICAL so any info from either will suffice.
The wire harness connector was probably removed for a reason.
Ah, found the file! Once again, sorry is this has been beaten to death, I thought an X308 sunroof was mechanically different than a X300's. One more question, isn't the wire harness required to operate the sunroof? Thanks again!
Yes the module needs BOTH harness connectors for it to operate. Someone unplugged it and probably for a good reason if IT IS BROKEN!!!!!
IF you plug it in and operate it, you might want to listen carefully for sounds of 'crunching/cracking parts' and be ready to STOP the motor before it becomes disabled in the open position.
Thanks for the clarification; I won't try and open it at all. I'll get my mechanic to look at all of the sunroof parts, such as the tracks, ect. and make sure to fix whatever is wrong before I open it. Thanks again!
