Question ticking won't stop!!!

So I have this odd tick from my engine. It does it cold and hot, sometimes it has to idle for a few to start making the tick. I run 5w40 synthetic diesel oil, my tensioners are new, I'm lost. It's a steady tick tick tick tick and if I rap the throttle I hear something rattle and it goes away for sometimes up to 7 minutes idling. I can rev it slow and the sound follows the rpm. It is best described as a collapsed lifter in a pushrod motor its weird. Any thoughts?

VVT probably losing pressure. Only fix is to replace it but it won't hurt the engine it's just annoying. My 98 xj8 did it at 194k miles. Keep driving it!

I had the same issue.... tore my engine apart... and.... it was a loose spark plug. Check each of them, the Bosch plugs tend to come out

If it ticks at idle when u crank it up and you rev engine to around 1500 rpm you hear a lil whir a small rattle and then nothing then it's the VVT. That you do not have to worry about. My 98 had 194k and did it and changin the oil weights did nothing. It will not hurt the engine. U did do tensioners so u are good.
