Please expand on that question. What do you mean "if I touch the throttle"? Does it start only on cold starts?

Default xj8 wont start if throttle pressed

thanks for your reply, in answer to your question. if anyone accidentally presses the throttle before they try to start my xj8 the engine never starts. this happens whether the car is cold or hot i then have to leave the car for several hours before i can start the engine.

Wow! That's a new one on me! Never heard of that issue on any car. Maybe a tech can give you some insight.

p.s. Does this mean that the starter doesn't work(dead silence) or the starter turns the engine but the engine just doesn't ignite.

Default no start once throttle has been pressed

thanks for the reply hlgeorge, the engine turns over on the starter ok, but the car never starts once the throttle pedal has been pressed the jag i had before this one did the exact same thing, also i know two of my friends jags have the same symptoms. i have thought it has to do with flooding in some way but as it is ecm controlled i dont see how that is possible any help greatly appreciated

You may want to post this question in the XJ8 forum too.

Something to do with the throttle body or the throttle position sensor maybe?? Has it set any codes?
