I saw this post about to drop into obscurity without a response, so here's my two [sense]:

The corect Esso fluid is specified by ZF and Jaguar, I get it through Jag in 20L jugs. I can sell half a jug for $250, but I have to determine which shipper would handle it. I know USPS Priority is unfriendly when it comes to fluids.

I know that you can but litre bottles for less than Jaguar's price of $55 each, but I don't recall which other manufacturers sell the fluid or their prices. Maybe call your [Vovlo] dealer.

Use of alternative fluids is something I won't gamble on in a customer's car, particularly when doing a fluid change which wouldresult in a half and half mix. Since yours will be bone dry, it surprises me that your rebuilder isn't the one telling you what fluid to use. I would presume he is going to warranty the unit, so I would expect that to be his call. I don't know of any ZF rebuilder who is recommending an alternative lubricant.
