Transmission noise
I own a 2000 xj8. The transmission A drum failed a common thing I was told. I had a local transmission shop overhaul with updated A+B drums. It shifts fine but now chatters in the morning when cold and has a humming noise at 50 to 55 mph in drive mode. But when shift to sport mode goes away. Transmission place says transmission is fine and is very common problem with no repair fixes. Can anyone help me? The car did not do this new. Thanks

why not
to be honest I never see that much dif between the two settings anyway.
Also sports mode on an X350 only inhibits 6th gear when an enthusiastic driving style or a demanding road is detected.
When cruising conditions are detected, 6th gear is made available again to maximise driving refinement and economy.
So now we have three identical posts, same issue from the same member in the same place... consolidation possible?
