Default Trunk (or Boot) Accoutrements: Umbrella and Emergency Triangle.

Here are a few photos of my trunk accessories. This is of course for those of you (like me) who have way too much time on your hands. The emergency triangle and bracket are an Audi A6 part from eBay. The umbrella is from Amazon and the quality is quite good…especially considering the $18 price point. The canopy is a nice dark green and the handle and shaft are real wood. I mounted the umbrella to the underside of the trunk using (believe it or not) Timex ladies velcro watch bands from eBay. I reduced the length of the bands by folding the centers over, created a hole using a soldering iron, and riveted everything to the underside of the trunk. It can be nerve-racking drilling through the inside skin of the trunk, but I am happy to report the outer skin is unscathed. I think the watch bands look better than your average strap and give it that little extra detail. Now I just need a First-Aid kit for the side wall of the trunk.

Yes, good eye. That is my 67 Standard 289 Cougar which I restored over a 2 year period.

Acat Are you on the Cougar board also? I used to have a 70 XR7. Had to sell her couple years ago after my transplant surgery.

Nice indeed.
I did kind of same thing, but used the excisting holes plus plugs.
I later moved the umbrella to the lower backboard (again using the plugs).

the orginal triangle top was 2 inch slotted into the upholstery, to keep it fixed.
I did the same, made a slot into the recess, then fixed the bottow with 2 straps.
It makes the triangle sit a bit higher.

Sweet Cougar!
