Default Vacuum Leak

Had the codes read at autozone and it's throwing these:

P1111
P0171
P0174
P0133
P0153

One of the plastic bits that sticks off of the accordian hose is broken and is rigged to stay on right now. I can hear a small hiss coming from this area and I'm wondering if this might be causing the CEL to come on. I don't know enough about jags yet to know where my problems might be.

Also, what is the name of that accordian hose thing? My JTIS is in the mail and I'm having trouble looking up the specific part.

What are those little plastic things for anyways?

Hi Rick
Where is this hose located on the engine? Is it attached to the supercharger?
I think we need more information to be able to help you.

Here is an extract from JTIS about Air Induction System on your XJR:

Ah thanks! That makes it so much easier to explain.

It's the Intake Air Distribution and Filtering system.

One of the tuned stubs broke off and the previous owner simply reversed the tube, stuck it back into the hole, and JB welded it in place.

I hear a slight hiss coming from here and I know that if it's removed the engine itself stalls. However I can drive normally like this until I get my new air intake duct.

Can this be the cause of the codes I'm recieving or is that a whole seperate issue?

First of all please put your car info in your signature. I had to go to your profile to see we are talking about a 2000 xjr.

Any type of vacuum leak on this car will set a code. If you know that you have a leak and you know where it is you need to fix it. This car does not like vacuum leak and will set a code every time and if you think you can patch it with tape I can tell you first hand that band-aid will not hold up. Fix the leaks that you know of and see if your codes will clear.

The band aid fix is only until my new intake assembly gets here. I'm just going to order a whole new part; and will do on the signature.

Default Part numbers for the Air Pipe from JEPC Parts Catalog

Hi Rick
I looked the Air Pipe on the JEPC (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog).
Here is a jpeg file of the page (find your Vin# and get the associated part number):
Vacuum Leak-xjr-air-pipe-listing-jepc-parts.jpg

This part should cost around $38 plus shipping -- if it is part# NNF3555AC (priced at jaguarmerriamparts.com).

I think I found the right part.

Collision Catalog - 2000 - Jaguar - XJ
Engine, Air intake, Air pipe, From vin 834576, From vin 834576 - W/supercharger - W/supercharger

I don't have my JEPC yet. That was the only one listed for engines with a supercharger though

My vin ends with F15512

I just noticed that you're a fellow Airman and a Vietnam veteran to boot.

Thank you Sir (I'm Enlisted too, but I'm also Southern. It's a respect thing!) for helping pave the way for those of us currently in.

How snug should the duct seal fit on the end of the pipe? Mine seems to slide right off and it feels like the pipe itself is just laying on the top of the intake instead of snuggly fitting

Every pipe connection should seal and fit snug, it is the only way to prevent any vacuum leaks.

Looks like I need a new seal then. I can hear a hissing coming out of the pipe even after cleaning it.

Keep in mind this car does not like vacuum leaks. Do not repair with a band-aid do it right and you will reap from the benefits. If the gasket is leaking you may want to check why, they may be cracked or the wrong gasket.

Hah no worries on band aid fixes. I used to own a corvette and I'm all too familiar with "Bubba".

I'm going to replace it with genuine OEM parts. The Air Pipe is already on order and I'm going to buy a new duct seal for it too.

The worst thing I'd ever seen was someone splicing the radio into a throttle locking cruise control. Every time the radio was turned on it would cause the car to lock into whatever speed it was at and you couldn't disengage without turning the radio off.

I will try and be helpful, but it is hard not to sound like a wise ***- You have the car and have identified that it it the SC leaking. Where? How do you know? How are we supposed to know not looking at the car?

If you are asking for where around the SC leaks can form, I would look at the rubber seals where the SC outlet plenum connects to the intercoolers. There are two varieties of rrplacement - one for the AJ 26 and a different one for AJ27. Your's is the AJ 27, I BELIEVE.

Good luck.

Did you do a hard reset after you changed the MAFS?
