Default Valve cover

Hi, turns out my valve cover has a crack, can an xj8 or xk8 valve cover fit my XJR? I see mostly xj8 and xk8 on eBay.

Yes, you just need to match the engine size, 4.0, 4.2 etc....

Your best bet would be a cam cover from a 2000-2003 4.0 Supercharged Engine because you don't have VVT. The Normally Aspirated engines have the VVT actuator protruding though the cover with a seal installed.

The earlier covers (AJ26) will work but the gaskets are different and are not as common (They are orange for one side and grey for the other) and are thicker. The spark plug well seals are also different (one is in pairs instead of individual).

Do some research and make sure you get a match to what you have.

Bob and Highorse...thanks for chiming in. I actually got a replacement valve cover from a junkyard. Stroke of luck. But I'm luckier being on this forum where everyone are so helpful. You all are so precious in keeping my car in tip top shape. And to think I had trouble deciding on buying a Jag because of repair issues, cheers to this generous forum. Thank you.
