Default VVT seal replacement

I’m trying to replace the VVT seals on the top cam/valve pans, and it seems I have to remove the pan and push out the old VVT seal out.
What I didn’t expect was the oil dip stick pipe is also connected to the pan. How do you get that stick off without having to get underneath and try and get the dipstick tube off?

OK, I managed to get the seal off, but the oil dipstick connector on to the pan is worrisome when I have to do future work. Anyone know how to address that well dipstick connector?

.

I have read that some cut a slot in the dipstick holder creating a "C" where it connects to the valve cover, so that the tube can be "pulled away" from the valve cover stud once the top nut is loosened/off, thereby avoiding pulling the dipstick tube up and away from the block.

Leave the dipstick in the tube and just lift enough to displace it.

The longer dipstick will still be in the block hole to guide the tube back in for install.
